During this time, you may find yourself feeling down and overall more lethargic. One of the primary culprits of winter blues is the lack of natural sunlight during the fall and winter months, along with a possible increase in refined carbohydrates, sugar, and fats from holiday foods.
While battling the winter blues is never fun, there are some foods that can actually help combat your gloomy feelings. This month, I will be sharing with you my best nutrition and lifestyle tips to fight the blues and improve your energy!

Posted on November 19The idea of nature baths comes from a Japanese concept called shinrin-yoku, which means “forest bathing” or “relaxing in a forest atmosphere.” During a nature bath, you're “bathing” in the energy and clean air of the woods.
Due to covid, I spent my summer in Flagstaff and truly felt the peace and health benefits of being in nature. It is now an important part of my health regimen.

Anti-Inflammatory Shake
Posted on November 118 oz of unsweetened flaxseed milk
2 TBSP of cocoa powder
1 scoop of chocolate protein powder (sweetened with Stevia)
½ cup of dark frozen cherries

Triple Chocolate Chia Seed Pudding
Posted on October 23If you love chocolate, you have to try this recipe I had for breakfast this morning! Cocoa is a very powerful antioxidant. It can help lower blood pressure and even raise HDL (good) cholesterol. Of course, this is with out all the addends sugars.
I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did!

8 oz of Unsweetened Original Simply Almond Milk (no gums)
2 TBSP chia seeds
1 TBSP raw cocoa powder
1 TBSP cacao nibs
5-10 drops of organic liquid stevia
1/4 cup Chocolate Hazelnut Livlo Granolo
Mix all ingredients in a mason jar, except the granola, shake well and place in the fridge over night.
Top with the granola and enjoy!
*This recipe did not come as thick as my other recipes, but the flavor is still there. I will update next time I try a different variation.
400 calories: 5 grams of net carbs, 15 grams of protein, 32 grams of fat
