Health Journey
Posted on March 21You do not owe any one an explanation of why you are trying to make healthy changes. If you feel resistance from family, friends or coworkers, speak less often of your intentions and lead by example.
Wild Caught Salmon
Posted on March 16Don' be afraid to check out the frozen section for protein. I typically but everything fresh, but having back ups in the freezer can come in handy. This was is the freezer next to the meat and fish department. I was pleased how healthy and delicious it was. I made as side of mashed sweet potato and cauliflower.
Breakfast Bowl
Posted on March 15I have noticed a trend of protein bowls or breakfast bowls in restaurants. I absolutely love this idea so I started making my own at home and I am looking forward to being creative.
I made this bowl with organic, refried black beans, spinach scrambled eggs, salsa and goat cheese.
Evolution - Cold Pressed Green Juice
Posted on March 08A client brought this new product to my attention. It is a cold pressed, no sugar added green juice. The whole bottle is only 100 calories and 22 grams of net carbs. It can be found at Sprout's, Starbucks and some CVS stores. Try a half bottle in the morning with some eggs if you do not have time to juice your self.
What's in the Fridge?
Posted on March 02The first step to improving your food intake and your health is nutrition education, application (practice) and consistency.
The next step may be learning why you eat. Do you turn to food when you are stressed, bored, sad, lonely, frustrated or looking for something to do?
Evaluating why you eat can be just as important as the education itself and remember you are not alone in your struggles with food.
Modern Market
Posted on February 28I am so happy that a Modern Market has opened very close to me. I like how the menu and receipt shows the calories in the food and I love the term "nutricate"....to nutritionally educate.
Produce Box Examples
Posted on February 23A few more examples of how I used my produce box this week.
My favorite was using a zucchini and spaghetti squash to make a zucchini, mushroom and turkey marinara sauce over the spaghetti squash.
Carotenes or Xanthophylls
Posted on February 21Carotenes or Xanthophylls
Have you ever considered why it is important to eat a variety of produce daily?
Each color (pigment) in fruits and vegetables has scientific names and various functions to improve our health.
Orange, pinks, reds and yellows are called carotenes or xanthophylls. Our bodies will break these down into carotene to produce Vitamin A.
Vitamin A helps with vision, immune system, reproduction and helps most organs to function.
Try to aim for at least four different colors of produce per day, with the major focus on vegetables.
Home Made Vitamin Water
Posted on August 07Try these ideas instead of the chemical laden drinks sold at your grocery store. My favorite is cucumber and mint!
